Alasdair Weaks

Managing Partner ACA

Alasdair joined the firm in 1990 and after qualifying he moved on to a top 20 City firm to expand his knowledge and experience, in both the commercial and charity sectors, before returning to Simpson Wreford & Partners in 1998.  He became a partner in 2000 and has been the firm’s managing partner since 2013.

As well as leading the firm’s management team, he is responsible for a large and varied portfolio of clients.  Working with SMEs, often as an ‘on tap’ finance director, he helps them deal with their business risks and daily challenges they face, from business sales, group restructuring, tax planning projects and analysing cash flow projections, to the more straightforward accounting and tax issues that all businesses face on a daily basis.  Alasdair also heads up the firm’s not for profit department, working with our large portfolio of charity clients.

Alasdair strongly believes that whilst assisting all clients on the financial side it is important to recognise that it is not just numbers.  Understanding a client and their ‘business’ is the key to being able to help them navigate the varied and often complex path to achieving their goals.

As a former classical musician, Alasdair was fortunate to work with many orchestras and world renowned conductors.  Whilst his performing days are well behind him, he enjoys listening to all types of music, whether at his children’s schools or the BBC Proms. He is a keen cyclist, though these days sits nearer the back of the peloton.
