Making light work of your business’s VAT
Talk to any business owner and they’ll tell you that VAT is among the most time consuming bits of administrative work with which they’re burdened.
For one thing, VAT itself is complicated, from multiple schemes to the specific oddities of VAT ratings for particular products or services. Then there’s the challenge of staying on top of monthly or quarterly returns – why does it always feel as if you’ve only just completed a return and yet somehow the next one is already due?
In addition, most firms completing VAT returns now have to comply with the Government’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) scheme, which means having the right software and processes in place.
From setting you up for MTD to taking care of your VAT return, we’re here to help.
Registration and deregistration
You’re obliged to register for VAT when your taxable turnover goes above £85,000 and can only then deregister when it goes back below £83,000.
There are, of course, lots of technicalities around how you determine your turnover for VAT purposes – and strategic decisions to be made with a view to managing your cashflow and VAT bill.
Our advisers will clarify your options, give you space to think and handle the paperwork on your behalf.
Specialist VAT advice
We’re also experts in niche aspects of VAT. For example, we can advise on how it applies to sales into the EU, and on the implementation of the various retail VAT schemes.
